Brick Lane Festival coming up; here's one event that looks good:

  "Shortwave, the award winning, multi-media experience returns to 93
  Feet East, on Sunday 11th September for the Brick Lane Festival. The
  line up includes short films by emerging talent, a live PA by Tetine,
  DJs and VJs."

  "Funk Carioca combines street smarts with popping electro beats (miami
  bass + brazilian macumba percussion) and the intensity of DIY topped
  with some crude lyrical rhymes resulting in an irresistible cocktail
  that grabs you by the hips and never lets go."
